PERHAPS THE MOST fireflies do not love - Locanda Delle Fate (1977)

I never tire of discovering the great bands that musically entertained Italy in the '70s. Locanda Delle Fate and is one of the countless examples of good groups that fell into oblivion after a brief career that could only leave a faint wake, but very bright.

Lucciola Forse Le Più non si Amano is an album that has nothing to envy to the best BMS or PFM, with the perfect balance of Rock, symphonic music and innovation. Of course, it also draws on the classical influences that all progressive rock group taken into account ( Yes, Genesis, King Crimson ...).

Unfortunately, this work sees the light when the Italian progressive rock was in the doldrums, and the lack of widespread interest because of an oversaturated market very great rock bands, as well as the already well-known limitations posed some songs in a language other than English, made LDF disappeared soon after that could not even say "here we are."

a shame. It is an essential album.

Like An White Egg Period

DEEP PURPLE - Deep Purple (1969)

If there is a Deep Purple album that fits inside Progressive Rock (or at least comes close) is undoubtedly the album same name, which is not the first but the third of the band. Deep Purple is the latest work by the original lineup of the MkI where Deep Purple had not yet Glover and Gillan ranks.

After recording this album, the band decided that Rod Evans not fit all, and decided to try to convince Ian Gillan to join Deep Purple . Gillan , meanwhile, agreed to impose one condition: that he entered Glover on bass (which involved the expulsion of Nick Simper ). In principle this was not a problem because Evans and Simper were good friends and probably would have been second on his own feet after the expulsion of Evans or, in the worst case, the climate in within the band would become very tense (and that he would ensure Blackmore below). For his part, Glover torn between joining Deep Purple (something I was reluctant at first because I did not think that the band had future) or remain in Episode Six, band that was with Gillan and which was the main songwriter. In the end, they decide to join Deep Purple , which output is Evans and Simper , the disappearance of Episode Six and the birth of acclaimed MkII.

Well, I pulled the scroll explaining the transition between MkI and MkII and in the end I said nothing of the disc. Yes, that's fine, you listen and not disappoint you. Here are the Deep Purple more experimental.

What Can Make You Go Pee More

Queen II - Queen (1974)

Black Queen, one of the regulars on this blog, I strongly recommended to listen to this Queen II, which I regret. And the truth is that, as I said it, I asked myself how could this wonder had not heard before, since I already had reached critical acclaim it long ago.

Well, after having heard it, I can say Queen II is my favorite album of Queen after A Night At The Opera . This is the darkest work of the band, very little commercial and symphonic atmosphere as dominant trend. It is here where Queen begin to flirt with multiple voices, a resource that gives your music and operatic lyricism that would become the band's hallmark.

As the review makes Black Queen of this album is better and more detailed than I could do, I strongly linked directly so that you can read it:
